High in the billowing winds of night,

the full Moon shone his silver light

upon spectral sailors treading along

to’rds the radiant kiss of dazzling Dawn.

Over cascading currents of shimmering clouds,

the ship press’d on as sailors sang loud.

The stedfast captain stood tall at the wheel;

light gleaming brightly on his cutlass of steel.

Witless winds carved wrathful waves;

seas of mist rolled in battering swathes.

Six sirens sang in a seductive soiree,

dragging three men into deadly embrace.

B’low twinkling stars in stark navy skies,

great sails on masts caught gales in their grasps.

The ship blew ever farther into night

without a moment’s rest, nor an end in sight.

Dragons, serpents, & hideous creatures

flew twisting, clawing, & gnashing in froth,

but the hoar-hardened hull & its armoring features

stayed strong as the soldiers fought all of them off.

The gaze of the still-standing man at the helm

never faltered in face of any frightening wraith,

but stared ever onward through unending haze

‘til it witnessed, at last, loving Sun’s golden face.
